2026 APPLICATION RULE

Your route depends on your high-school history

Except for stated exemptions, applicants enrolled in or graduated from secondary education in Türkiye are placed in Turkish and TRNC universities through YKS from 2026.

Foreign nationality alone does not guarantee eligibility for the international-student route.

Who may need YKS?

Applicants enrolled in or graduated from public, ordinary private or other secondary schools in Türkiye, unless they document an exemption.

Who may be exempt?

Embassy schools, MOBİS-listed international private schools, and foreign nationals brought under Ministry or YÖK projects.

Applicants educated abroad

Applicants with no Turkish secondary-school enrolment may be assessed under EMU’s current international admission rules.

Questions about the 2026 rule

Must foreign students educated in Türkiye take YKS?

Except for stated exemptions, foreign applicants enrolled in or graduated from Turkish secondary schools are expected to be placed through YKS from 2026.

Does a MOBİS school guarantee admission?

No. It may support exemption review, but status must be documented and admission remains the university’s decision.

What about university transfers?

Transfers require a separate review of enrolment, transcript, program and current institutional rules.

What about dual citizenship?

Citizenship and education history must be reviewed together with supporting documents.
